Conductor’s note:

Dear Educators,

Happy new year from BPYO!

Our students are making great headway in rehearsals for our next concert. I anticipate for it to be a very musically fulfilling experience for the audience. Their musicality is certainly expanding and it gives me great hopes for seasons to come!

On December 8 we had a parent’s orientation meeting that was very successful as we outlined the guidelines for being a member of BPYO. We touched on scheduling, logistics, the concerto competition, side-by-sideopportunities with the Boise Philharmonic, and our upcoming annual fund drive.

The BPYO Concerto Competition is coming up on Sunday, February 22. The winning student will be given the opportunity to perform their concerto at the April 25 BPYO concert.

Our next rehearsals will provide opportunities for the BPYO students to work with the BPO musicians in the form of sectionals and side-by-sides, as well as an opportunity to work with Robert Franz.

BPYO Rehearsal Update:

We are focusing on the following concepts:

-longer melodic lines, phrases, and their relations to the next or previous phrases

-creating energy, ambience, and mood while maintaining rhythmic integrity

Educators are always welcome at any of our rehearsals!
